The Eternal Destiny of the Lost

Updated: Feb 9, 2021

Day 21 of the 24 Day Prophecy Study

Notes compiled by Steve McAtee and Marty Zide

This is a very sobering truth. The only reason why everyone doesn’t end up in the Lake of Fire is because of God’s free and undeserved grace. There is no room for any joking about this subject.

This subject raises questions, but we need not fear any questions. The Word of God is sufficient to answer all of the big questions that people wonder about. Our task as believers is not to try to come up with an answer, but to go to the Bible to find the answer.

The promise that God made to Adam if he disobeyed His command concerning eating from the forbidden tree, finds it’s ultimate fulfillment when those who die in their sins, are sentenced to eternal separation from God in the Lake of Fire.

Gen. 2:16-17 - The Lord God commanded the man, saying, From any tree of the garden you may eat freely; but from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat from it you will surely die.

They immediately died spiritually and began to die physically. All who are born from Adam on, are born in this fallen condition. All who are never saved will experience the eternal wrath of God as punishment for all their sins.

The strongest support for the doctrine of endless punishment is the teachings of the Lord Jesus.
